Training with NPORS

National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS Training)

The main objective of the NPORS training certificate is to allow a flexible approach to meet the needs of the employer and to help and assist in providing an adequately trained construction workforce. The NPORS operator registration card is produced for an individual who has successfully completed practical and knowledge assessments on the categories shown on the back of the card. This shows that they have achieved a level of competence to operate the item on the card.

ATS Group specialize in on-site training, whereby a qualified instructor will come to your site and conduct training specific to your needs and more importantly to your working environment. Our specialist team provide NPORS training services to all applicants of different experience levels. This ensures that by the end, no matter what, you leave with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to efficiently and safety work within the designated work sector. If you are in need of any NPORS training or would like to put your workforce through it, get in contact with us and we will provide the information you need on our range of courses.

The National Plant Operators Registration Scheme, or NPORS as it is more commonly known, is an excellent alternative card scheme to the CPCS.

Flexibility

An NPORS card is much more flexible than other schemes, giving you the ability to:

  • Include attachments – E.g. Telescopic Handler – with Bucket attachment.
  • Restrict the card for Operational reasons – E.g. 180 Excavator – restricted to front bucket use only.
  • Restrict the card for Commercial reasons – E.g. Restricted for use on A Company Ltd sites only.

Variety

This is where NPORS training really comes into its own. The variety of categories available is unrivalled.
Sure, they offer the “normal” categories – Excavators, Dumpers, Rollers, Lift Trucks etc but they also have a lot of other courses that other schemes do not.

These include Slinging and Lifting with Excavator, Vehicle Banksman (Traffic Marshall), Quick Hitch (Safety or Awareness), Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT and Genny) and Abrasive Wheels.

NPORS Training

ATS Group can offer full Novice Training Courses with NPORS assessments at the end for candidates with no previous experience. We ensure that no matter what, you have access to the construction training you need. Be it CPCS or NPORS training, we are certain to have the courses you are looking for.

We also offer bespoke courses for semi experienced operators or those that may have used the machine in a different capacity E.g. A 360 Excavator operator who has only used the machine in a scrap yard with a grab attachment.

Experienced Worker Assessment

Alternatively, if you or your operators are experienced, an Experienced Worker Assessment is available.

These can again be at our Reading training site or on your own site. For the latter, your site must meet NPORS specification for the category (available upon request) and you must also have the correct items of plant and equipment on site.

It is recommended that delegates have at least 2 years prior experience although, as with anything, experience and ability are subjective. Even if your knowledge base or experience is limited, our construction training courses are certain to teach you everything you need to know for the future.

Successful candidates will be issued with an NPORS card, which is valid for 3 or 5 years. Our NPORS training is provided by professionals in the construction industry so they are assured to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to complete your course and receive your NPORS card.

NPORS Operator Card Renewals

An operator can renew his NPORS card in one of two ways:

  • An employer signs a renewal notification form. This signature is to verify that the operator has maintained a good standard on the category and has been accident free during their employment.

Or

  • Refresher training to be completed for each group of categories.

We recommend that refresher testing is taken to give you the peace of mind that your operators are still operating to the required standard. It is also an opportunity to iron out any bad habits that they may have picked up over the lifespan of their card.

Please call a member of our friendly training team on 08000 092 998 if you have any questions regarding, training, testing or renewals.
